Reading "Lessons I didn't learn in photo school" at lunch, by Syl Arena, and this note struck me. Are you buying the "cool toys", or are you buying tools needed to get the job done?

My son Dash turned 2 today. His favorite gift was his Buzz Lightyear raincoat and umbrella. He runs everywhere saying "to infininnnny and beyawn!"
He is a HUGE Toy Story fan, to say the least.
Happy birthday to my very special little man, I love you...
Shot this last night while photo walking with my class. Seems out of place, and from a different world/time
I was on my daughters desk chair, trying to reach something on her bookcase, when a leg on her chair broke. My leg scraped the side of her desk, and my face bounced off her desk.
Round 1 went to the chair, but I'll be back...
I would like to take this moment to thank my wife Laurie. I found my "Somebody" many years ago. I am thankful for that every day, and I am glad I no longer roam around searching...
Happy Valentines Day Laurie, and thank you for being somebody to share my innermost thoughts, and all my intimate details, for being someone who stands by my side, and gives me support.
For being someone who will hear me out, but won't easily be converted to my way of thinking. In fact we often disagree, but at the end of it all, you understand me.
I know things like this make us sick, but in a place like this we'll get away with it...
I love you
Thank you

Hi Everyone!
The image above was processed with Aperture 3. Apple released it this week, and I am playing with the 30 day free trial. It is available for $199. Jeffery and I are having wildly different experiences with it, and I am not ready to give a thumbs up or thumbs down on it yet. The 1 intriguing factor for me with this program is the ability to do slideshows. As a recent Apple convert, I do miss ProShow Producer, but perhaps this program can finally replace that.
Also, in a concerted effort to make the website and blog more cohesive, I made some design changes. Let me know what you think.
Here is a quick update on what to expect this week in class:
Sunday: We will be at Tri. We are going to cover Lightroom. Please don't forget to bring images!
Monday: No school! We are closed for President's day
Wednesday: We will discuss last week's church shoot. Again, bring images!
Thursday: We have models, come prepared to shoot, and BRING IMAGES!!!
See you this week!
We shot a real renewal of the vows in my class on Wednesday night. Then we went to In-N-Out for the reception!
Thanks to Stephanie and Alejandro for allowing us to shoot this, and to Herman for officiating.
My son is all ready for the rain...
I am shooting a wedding today in the rain myself, and I might not get a chance to upload any shots today, so this is how my son dressed for breakfast this morning...

My daughter in her rain boots. I took her out to splash in puddles today. These boots make me smile :)

This is my lunch.
This is so much more than my lunch
I have had this book on my Amazon Wish List for a year. I finally bought it and recieved it this week.
I have been running down a path for a while now. In the last 6 months, it has really picked up steam. I have also been battling myself. This is nothing new. But the questions are coming faster than ever. "Is this good?" "Are you good enough?" "What are you doing?" "Are you crazy?" "When will you give up? You know you always do..."
I'm tired, I'm exhausted, I'm spent. I have a lot of obligations. I have very little time. But I can't stop running. Climbing. Breathing. Sometimes I just want to rest. Stuff is falling through the cracks. Old relationships are changing. New ones are emerging. I can't stop.
And I still don't know what I'm doing, or where I am going. And this little book understands all of that. And it validates everything I have been doing, and it tells me it's all okay.
This was so much more than lunch...
The sun shining through the trees, shot with my iPhone. We may not see it much the rest of this week, so enjoy it.
